About Dr. Nefertiti Poyner

A 30-year veteran educator who began her journey in the classroom.

Over the years, my work has expanded into training, coaching, and speaking, but my heart will always be rooted in the relationships I've built with learners, educators, and families.

I'm a proud mom and a grateful bonus mom and grandmom! These roles have shaped the way I see the world and the way I approach my work. I believe in the power of reflection, in slowing down, looking inward, and striving to get better and better each day.

I'm also the creator and author of all the tools here at The Dollar Desk — each one designed to help you pause, reflect, and live with greater intention.

The Power of Reflection

We live in a world overflowing with information. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is pause, take a breath, and receive that information in bite-sized, meaningful ways.

My approach centers on the belief that meaningful learning happens when we slow down and truly absorb what matters most. In our fast-paced world, I've learned that the most profound growth comes from intentional reflection and purposeful pause.

"I believe in the power of reflection, in slowing down, looking inward, and striving to get better and better each day."

Why Writing It Down Matters

Reflection helps us notice where we are.
Writing things down helps us understand it, remember it, and return to it.

At The Dollar Desk, we believe reflection becomes more powerful when it moves from your head to the page. Writing slows us down just enough to make meaning of what we are experiencing and to respond with intention instead of habit.

Here's why we anchor our tools in writing things down:

1

Writing creates clarity

When thoughts live only in our minds, they stay tangled. Writing gives them shape. It helps you name what matters, separate what's noise from what's true, and see patterns you might otherwise miss.

2

Writing makes reflection real

Once something is written, it exists outside of you. You can return to it, revise it, and build on it. Writing turns reflection into something you can actually work with, not just think about.

3

Writing supports alignment and intentional choices

When your thoughts, values, and intentions are written down, they become anchors. They help guide decisions, reinforce boundaries, and remind you of what you said mattered when life gets loud.

The Dollar Desk was created to give you simple, thoughtful tools that invite you to pause, reflect, and write your way toward greater alignment and intentional living, one page at a time.
